Use external speakers or headphones

The simplest way to use Cadenza is with headphones. This ensures that the audio output from Cadenza will not generate feedback into the microphone.

If headphones get in the way, or you prefer not to play with headphones, you can listen to the accompaniment on external speakers. To do this, simply connect the headphone jack on your computer to the speaker input. Most musicians find this a more satisfying way to use Cadenza.

When using external speakers, make sure they are not too close to your microphone. The distance between your instrument and the microhpone should be less than the distance between the external speaker and the microphone. It is okay if some of Cadenza's audio output comes back into its microphone. Cadenza is expecting to hear some of the orchestra and uses echo cancellation to account for this. For best results, use an external microphone you can attach to your instrument.

Don’t use your computer's' built-in speakers. They are too close to the internal microphone used by Cadenza and will create too much feedback. Furthermore, the built-in speakers usually do not produce enough sound to match a live musical instrument.
